About Steve:
Steve Waters is a seasoned radio personality with a career spanning multiple states and nearly three decades. He began his journey at WACL in Harrisonburg, VA, and has since made his mark at stations like WNKT, WSSX, and WTWF in Charleston, SC. For the past 13 years, Steve has been waking up listeners in Fredericksburg, VA, as the morning host for Alpha Media’s WFLS. Throughout his career, he has garnered numerous prestigious awards, including being a three-time nominee and 2018 winner of the Country Music Association’s Personality of the Year, as well as a two-time winner of the Academy of Country Music Personality of the Year and a three-time recipient of the Virginia Association of Broadcasters’ Best Radio Personality Award.
Now, Steve is thrilled to be joining the team at 97.3 The Eagle, where he can enjoy living at the beach and being part of a heritage station with a rich history. As he puts it, “To live where we vacation and to be a part of such an incredible team is simply amazing!”
About Karen:
Karen West is a true veteran of country radio, with nearly 40 years of experience under her belt. As 97.3 The Eagle’s Assistant Brand Manager, Music Director, and co-host of the morning show, Karen’s passion for country music is unmatched. She’s a fan of both the legends like Waylon, Loretta, Garth, and George Strait, and the exciting new artists like Jackson Dean, Lainey Wilson, and Jelly Roll.
Outside of radio, Karen dedicates her time to charitable causes close to her heart, including the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer,” in memory of her sister Ginni, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. An author as well, Karen has written two books, Amazing Trace, A Sister’s Journal being one of them, to support these causes.
Born and raised in Newport News, Karen now lives in Norfolk and is the proud mother of four daughters. Her favorite quote by Maya Angelou perfectly captures her approach to life: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
