Tucker Wetmore is starting 2025 on a high note with his first-ever chart-topping single at country radio with “Wind Up Missin’ You.”
The Washington native’s debut hit became the very first Mediabase Country chart-topper of the year and he admits the news has made him quite emotional.
Wetmore reacted to the bucket list moment on Monday morning via social media, revealing that he was “holding back tears” as he learned the news.
“First off, none of this is possible without the good Lord above all glory be to Him,” he began.
The rising star went on to reflect on his musical journey and shared immense gratitude to those who have supported him along the way.
“I have been dreaming of and working towards this moment for as long as I can remember and to be able to check that box off today leaves me nothing short of thankful. Thankful for all of y’all for listening and loving this song, thankful for my team for believing in me, my friends and family who support me through thick and thin, the fellas who helped me write this song, and to COUNTRY RADIO,” he wrote. “My heart is full, my path is laid out, my life is so blessed. I love you all.. thank you.”
This announcement follows a breakout 2024 for Tucker Wetmore. Last year, he signed with UMG Nashville / Back Blocks Music / Mercury, released his debut EP, and claimed the title of No. 1 developing act at Country radio. With 700 million global streams to date, Wetmore also sold out a headlining tour and extended it due to overwhelming demand. In 2025, he’s set to take the stage as direct support for Thomas Rhett on the highly anticipated Better In Boots Tour. And it’s safe to say Wetmore’s hot streak doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
In a separate statement reacting to his No.1 single, Wetmore added, “This is a dream come true and an incredible way to start 2025…. I’m excited to work even harder for you this year.”
“Wind Up Missin’ You” was written by Wetmore with Thomas Archer and Chris LaCorte. Justin Ebach served as producer.
The song was released in early April, following the breakthrough success of his Billboard Hot 100 debut single “Wine Into Whiskey,” and tells the story of a man meeting a woman who he perceives to be different than anyone he’s ever met. He acknowledges that he might come across as just another guy in a bar, but he insists his feelings for her are genuine. Throughout the lyrics, he uses imagery to explain how he sees her – like waves on a sunset and wine in a truck bed – which paints a vivid picture in the mind of the listener.
“I’m incredibly proud of this song,” Wetmore previously shared. “It paints a picture of young love to me, something we’ve all had a taste of at some point. Me and my buddies poured our hearts into it trying to capture that feeling just right. When we wrote it, we knew we had something special, but it was the support from the fans that turned it into something bigger than I could’ve ever dreamed of. You guys changed my life with the last song, and I hope y’all enjoy this one too.”
“Wind Up Missin’ You” is featured on Tucker Wetmore’s debut EP, Waves On A Sunset.
