Lauren Alaina is experiencing all the emotions after sharing the news with the world that she is pregnant with her first child. She made the official announcement through her new “Those Kind of Women” music video and then appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show the following day to further share what this journey has looked like throughout the past 22 weeks.
Upon sitting down together, Clarkson instantly made sure to call out how “beautiful” her fellow singer/songwriter looked with her baby bump prominently on display through her long-sleeve, floor-length red dress.
“This belly just popped right on out a couple of weeks ago. I was like, well, they’re telling the truth. There’s a baby in there,” Alaina joked.

The pair of American Idol alums got to discussing their experience with pregnancy and Clarkson, a mom to two young kids, was able to relate to everything Alaina was feeling in that moment as she recalled the first time she was pregnant and remembers it being a “weird” adjustment.
“It’s Crazy. I started feeling it moving around,” said Alaina.
Clarkson then asked if she has experienced the dreaded morning sickness that’s common among women in their pregnancy.
Alaina revealed she has “not been sick,” which in turn caused Clarkson to encourage her to “Knock girl. Knock on at all. Knock on all the wood.”
“So I was very fortunate. I never got sick,” Alaina continued. “I’m 22 weeks…which is a long time to hide a pregnancy, by the way, I’m very excited for people to know about this.”

Even though she was able to dodge the nausea, Alaina was plagued with “unbelievable” fatigue in her first trimester.
“Yeah, well you’re creating essential nervous system. You’re creating a lot there,” said Clarkson before Alaina added, “I’m like oh, I made a liver today.”
The Georgia native proceeded to discuss her new song, “Those Kind of Women,” and everything that has unfolded since. She explained that she was not pregnant at the time of recording the song and did not intend on being pregnant. However, it seems that everything has turned out as planned because now she is able to connect on the sentimental tune more than ever.
“The song is called ‘Those Kind of Women,’ and it’s all about the women who raised me. The song means so much to me already. And then I recorded the song and mastered the song and when I was getting the master back, I had found out that I was pregnant and no one knew except me and my husband,” she recalled.

Tears began to well up in Alaina’s eyes as she reflected on the fact that listening to the song now as a mom gave her a whole new perspective on the lyrics.
“I will say my mom and I have always been very close, but it has changed…Oh my goodness. I’m so pregnant. I’m going to cry about it,” she said with heavy emotions in her voice.
The song finds her paying tribute to all the best memories from her childhood, as well as the lessons she picked up along the way from the strong women in her life. With next chapter, Alaina is overjoyed to be starting her own journey as a mom and creating a circle of support for her child just as she had growing up.
“It’s crazy. Very excited. The best thing I’ve ever done,” she said in conclusion.
Viewers saw the heartfelt tune come to life in the just-released music video which found Alaina watching a younger version of herself develop that bond with her mom, Kristy Suddeth, over the years. At the end of the footage, she steps into the story as herself in the present day and is seen holding her growing bump while her mom watches from the other side of the crib.
Once the screen goes black, the formal pregnancy announcement is made with a statement that reads, “This video is dedicated to my Momma and our sweet Baby Arnold coming summer of 2025.”
Lauren Alaina and her husband Cam Arnold announced their engagement on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry in November of 2022 and then tied the knot surrounded by an abundance of friends and family at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on February 14, 2024.
The lovebirds will welcome their first child following Alaina’s run as a special guest on Rascal Flatts’ Life Is A Highway Tour this spring.
