Kelleigh Bannen Unveils Soul-Stirring Duet With Charles Kelley, ‘Nothin On’

Kelleigh Bannen delivers pure honesty on the complicated notions of love vs lust in her new single, “Nothin On” featuring Charles Kelley of Lady A.

This Logan Wall produced tune has felt special to the songstress since the day she wrote it with Claire Douglas and Will Bowen. As the story unfolds, listeners hear the turmoil the singers are facing while painting a vivid picture of a complicated relationship.

From an outsider’s view, the couple seems happy together, but in reality, their connection doesn’t hold the same emotional depth they once had with a past partner. This uncertainty leads to the realization that they may not be ready to move on yet.

Reflecting on the powerful nature of the ballad, Bannen shares, “’Nothin On’ has felt like it had a little extra magic on it since the day we wrote it. The chorus was literally hanging in the air that day, and we just had to reach up and grab it. This song is about that kind of cosmic chemistry that you can’t run from. No matter how much you try to move on, it’s impossible.”

Bannen’s soothing vocals alone lend a richness to the emotional ballad with sultry undertones, but the addition of Kelley’s rugged sound and perspective makes the story feel complete.

“I can’t imagine anyone sounding more amazing on this song than Charles. His voice is absolutely undeniable, and I’m so honored he’d sing it with me,” she adds.

He tackles the first verse, describing all the little things about his new love interest that should make him fall head over heels for her, but upon reaching the chorus, it’s clear that he’s still feeling emotionally tied to someone else.

He sings, “She’s California pretty, but she’s never been/ You should see her dance when she’s 3 drinks in/ She lives alone, she leaves her wine glass by the bed/ Kisses like she ain’t had her heart broke yet.”

Leading the second chorus, Bannen finds herself facing the same inner turmoil as she attempts to untangle the realization that even while “he’s got nothing on,” he still has “nothing on” her former connection.

“When he’s got nothing on/ Nothing on/ Nothing on/ I’m working on/ Moving on/ But there’s something wrong/ He’s got nothing on/ Nothing on/ Nothing on/ Nothing on you,” she delivers on the honest chorus.

“Nothin On” follows several noteworthy releases from Bannen in 2024, including “Don’t Fall In Love,” “Cherry Coke Can,” “Alive,” and “In Lieu Of Flowers.”

When she’s not releasing powerful tracks, Bannen is busy catching up with her fellow artists while hosting The Kelleigh Bannen Show and Todays Country on Apple Music. Throughout her career, she has conducted interviews with some of country’s biggest names including Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Ashley McBryde, Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and more.

Meanwhile, Charles Kelley and his bandmates Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood of Lady A recently delivered their first show of 2025 and are now gearing up for performances across California on February 14 and 15.  Additionally, his is celebrating the 9-year-anniversary of his first solo debut album, The Driver.
