Ingrid Andress Makes Comeback With National Anthem Performance After Controversial 2024 Flub

Seven months ago, Ingrid Andress made headlines with her flubbed national anthem performance at the 2024 Home Run Derby. This rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” went viral and was dubbed the “worst ever” by many spectators due to Andress’ off-key vocals.

The following day, Andress owned up, revealing that she was inebriated during the performance and revealed that she was going to check herself into a rehab facility to seek help.

This past weekend, Andress made her return to the spotlight, seizing a second opportunity to showcase her talent with a national anthem performance at the Colorado Avalanche game. With confidence, the singer/songwriter boldly declared, “We’re back, baby,” as she took to the ice to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Her post was flooded with comments, praising her for not giving up and having the courage to sing the national anthem again.

Following her comeback performance, Ingrid Andress surprised fans with the release of her new song, “Footprints.” Originally written as a personal message for her younger siblings, the track took on new life after everything Andress has experienced in recent times.

“This song means so much to me that I didn’t think I’d ever put it out, and now it resonates with me even more than when I wrote it,” the Colorado native shared. “I was the first sibling to venture out on my own and pursue my dreams, and I think it’s my role as an older sister to encourage them to do the same. I want them to learn from my mistakes, and to know that you can mess up and still keep moving forward. It doesn’t feel great to fail, but it can end up making you stronger.”

Co-written by Andress and Michael Pollack, this track marks her first release since 2022’s Good Person and ushers in a fresh musical chapter. With a renewed perspective on life, Andress is now ready to embrace greater honesty than ever in her songwriting.

“It felt like the Band-Aid had been ripped off and I’d lost the fear of making my lyrics very specific to my experience,” she explained. “Instead of trying to write songs that everyone can hear themselves in, I wanted to get back to being radically honest and really let my voice come through. It’s so much more fulfilling, and I don’t feel like I’m hiding anymore.”

She continued, “I hope my new music helps people slow down a bit and provides some time and space to remember where you started, who you are, and who you want to be moving forward.”

Ingrid Andress is known for hits like “More Hearts Than Mine,” “Lady Like,” and “Wishful Drinking” featuring Sam Hunt, she has released two albums: Lady Like in 2020 and Good Person in 2022.

She’s also shared the stage with artists including Keith Urban, Walker Hayes, and Kelsea Ballerini.
