Popular social media influencer Macy Blackwell opened up about a devastating experience where she lost $5,000 while trying to purchase tickets to Morgan Wallen’s Sand In My Boots Festival in a scam on Facebook.
In a candid and emotional video, Blackwell, who has over 2 million Instagram followers, revealed that she lost $5,000 on Sunday night and described the incident as a “life lesson learned.” She admitted she was embarrassed to share the story, but hopes that it will help others who may be looking to purchase tickets to Wallen’s sold-out event.
“Let me start by saying that none of this would’ve happened if I wasn’t dumb. Honestly, it’s my fault for being stupid and naive and falling for the scam,” she began.
Blackwell said she found a Sand In My Boots festival ticket resell group on Facebook with 12,000 members with hopes to purchase tickets.
“There’s tons of posts, like a post at least every 30 minutes of people buying and selling tickets, right? While the admin had a post pinned to the top of the whole 12,000 person group saying what kind of tickets they had left. And saying that they had already pre-checked and looked up the people who said they had tickets to sell and they had already been pre verified tickets,” she explained. “So I DM the admin and tell her, we want two tickets.”
According to Blackwell, the admin told her the tickets would be $2,500 each, which was $99 less than the original price.

“So maybe that should have been a red flag, because normally, when people are reselling a ticket, they’re wanting at least the same amount or more. I send her the Apple Pay for the $5,000. And I think why I was trusting is because she was tagged as the admin of this big huge group where it did seem legit,” she shared.
Things started to feel off as the hours passed without any sign of the tickets. The admin eventually sent Blackwell an email with the supposed ticket transfer, but it came from a generic Gmail account and contained obvious red flags—typos, incorrect festival location details, and poorly formatted images. Worse yet, the admin asked for another $500 to cover “fees,” which raised even more suspicion.
“That’s what I knew,” Blackwell admitted.
When she tried to check the admin’s profile, the page had vanished, along with her direct message thread. It was too late—she had lost the money.
“So that’s what happened. I literally went to bed feeling so sick, but life lesson learned, I’m never going to try to buy anything on Facebook again,” she promised.

Sand In My Boots Festival will take place May 16-18, 2025 on the beautiful white sand beaches of Gulf Shores, Alabama. Wallen will headline alongside Post Malone, Brooks & Dunn and HARDY.
