Emily Ann Roberts added a slew of boot-stomping barn burners to her catalog with the release of her debut album and deluxe edition, Can’t Hide Country. But for her first single of 2025, the rising star is shining a light on her love for softer tunes with “Easy Does It.”
The heartfelt ballad, penned by Roberts with Autumn Buysse and Jason Haag, began as just a title and eventually snowballed into a meaningful conversation about relationships – specifically the emotional turmoil women often face in what they perceive to be a genuine connection. Roberts admitted to experiencing this in many of her past relationships until meeting her now husband, Chris Sasser, who helped her realize that the ups and downs don’t actually equal a healthy connection.
“Sometimes as women, we feel like if things aren’t on again off again and does he love me, does he love me not, like a roller coaster, that it’s boring or something must not be there or the passion’s not there because we’re used to seeing in movies or in books or TV shows or even songs,” Roberts explained to Country Now. “Country music is great at it of these on again, off again relationships and so it makes you think, ‘okay, well this is really comfortable and he’s faithful to me and trustworthy and I’m not crying all the time.’ And so sometimes even though that’s a good thing, we almost think something’s wrong because we’re used to the turmoil that can come from a relationship.”

Drawing Inspiration From Real-Life Love Story
Roberts was lucky enough to find her person and now is hoping to share the message with listeners that love does not have to be that messy and the right person will make it feel as though it’s “simple, almost too simple.” In sharing this empowering tune, she’s also encouraging listeners to finally give the good guy a chance instead of dwelling on the ones who keep them up all night wondering.
“It happened really, really naturally, which was really cool. Sometimes when you’re writing songs you are banging your head up against a wall, but this time it just kind of fell out of our mouths,” she admitted.
With a steady strum of acoustic guitar plucks creating a warm melody, Roberts breathes comfort through her wispy vocals as she sings the chorus, “Easy does the dishes/ Easy holds my hand/ Easy don’t make me question/ Where on earth he stands/ I’ve tried love the hard way/ But it added up to nothing/ Kiss by kiss, you flipped the script/ Yeah, you showed me that easy does it.”
Even before the song’s official release, fans couldn’t help but relate to the teasers Roberts was dropping on socials and during her live shows. Sharing their stories and admitting to finding a beacon of light in this song just further proves the power of the Tennessee native’s storytelling.
“It’s just neat because I’ve heard so many stories online of women talking about being in abusive relationships and really traumatic relationships with their significant others and never believing that something like this existed. And they thought that literally that’s what love was, was that roller coaster,” she shared. “And it’s been cool to hear some of them say, ‘this was my story, but now I’ve found somebody that makes love easy’ or they’ll open up and talk about how it’s really hard for them to be comfortable in an easy relationship because they’re so used to the other way. And so it’s been neat to hear how it’s really struck a chord with a lot of women and they relate to it.”
Roberts debuted the new track on January 18 when she joined in a special Grand Ole Opry celebration for Dolly Parton’s birthday. The evening also marked her 20th time performing in the coveted circle.
“The crowd was cheering after the first chorus, the first time I sang the hook, and that always is so reassuring to know that the folks like it. It was really special. I got to play it with my guitar player, Tori and my fiddle player, Jordan, he was playing the mandolin on it, and then I was playing guitar. And so it was special for us because we travel all around playing our country music, but it’s really neat when we get to be on the Opry stage together,” she shared reflecting on the evening.
Roberts Is Looking Forward To Building Out Her Next Project
This optimistic track marks the start of a brand-new chapter in her musical journey following the success of her debut album Can’t Hide Country. Roberts shared how “exciting” it is to begin the process of building out her next project and the songs that will drop in anticipation. “Easy Does It” was one of the first songs penned after the release of Can’t Hide Country and Roberts now sees that it led to her “digging into a deeper well” of the moments and memories in life that matter most to her while writing for the forthcoming collection.
“I’ve introduced myself to folks. They know who I am now from my first record. It doesn’t feel like there’s as many rules with this next project, and that’s something that I’m having so much fun with is being as creative as I can be in the studio and in the writer’s room and having as much fun as I can,” she shared. “And so I guess that’s a little bit of what this next project is. It’s kind of me unapologetically just leaning into who I am and the stories that I want to tell and bringing all that to life in a fun way.”
Roberts added, “I’m so excited. Some of these songs are, I think some of the best that I’ve ever been a part of. And it feels weird to say that because usually I’m second guessing everything I’m doing, but I really believe in them and I’m so excited to get to share ’em with everybody.”
New Autobiographical Song Coming Soon

She went on to tease that her next release will come in a few short weeks, and it will serve as one of her most autobiographical deliveries to date that also centers around female empowerment.
“If I have ever written an autobiography, it’s the next song, of what my life has looked like pursuing country music,” she explained. “It’s a hard-working song and it kind of talks about all the things that as working women, we go through to get the job done. And it’s not just about showing up to work, but it’s showing up to your husband, it’s showing up in your home with your children, you have children. It’s all the things that a day consists of when you are a hardworking woman.”
Returning Home Next Month For A Long-Awaited Performance
These upcoming releases, in addition to “Easy Does It” will be showcased live on stage as Emily Ann Roberts prepares for a slew of exciting dates in 2025. Starting February 6, she will join Clint Black on part of his 35th Anniversary of “Killin’ Time” Tour for seven dates throughout the U.S. Later on, she will reunite with Blake Shelton on his Friends & Heroes 2025 Tour. While on this 12-city run, she will get to deliver a dream-come-true performance in her hometown of Knoxville, TN.
“It’s wild to think that I’m going to be on that stage. And I don’t know, it’s hard to put into words what it means to me just because you work so hard and you dream for so long, for moments like that. And then when they actually happen, I know that on that day I’ll just be trying to soak it all up so that I’ll never forget it.”
