17-Year-Old Ty Myers On His ‘Old Soul’ And Why Maturity Has Always Mattered To Him

At just 17 years old, Ty Myers has carried himself with a maturity way beyond his years as he navigates the start to what’s poised to be an immensely successful music career. While many might be surprised to learn he’s still in his teens, the rising star says he’s been considered an “old soul” since he was “a little baby.”

He further discussed his timeless spirit during a recent interview with Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen and Apple Music Country, noting that he has worked hard to carry himself in a certain way that gives the impression that he is older and wiser.

When asked why he thinks people have always viewed him in this light, he explained, “This sounds maybe weird, but I’ve always wanted to be a man. I’ve always wanted to be the most mature person in the room, right? And so I’ve always worked towards that for some reason, just subconsciously or consciously, just always that’s the person I want to be, and that’s how I want to be perceived.”

He has brought that same energy into his booming music career by creating music that’s been considered “timeless” for its authentic storytelling and Texas-rooted country sound.

“The fact that I make music and then I make it a timeless sort of music helps a lot with that, with people saying that,” Myers continued. “That’s probably the main reason is just I’ve always wanted that perception to be had and always worked towards that and never really liked childish stuff.”
