Krystal Keith Shares Heartfelt Tribute To Her Father, Toby Keith, On The Anniversary Of His Passing

Krystal Keith honors her father and country music legend, Toby Keith, with an emotional tribute on the one-year anniversary of his passing.

Among all the powerful words being poured out today (Feb. 5) for the beloved hitmaker, Krystal’s were so moving it’s nearly impossible not to tear up while reading her heartfelt words. She began by sharing what so many others are thinking, and that is how quickly life moves even when the pain of grief feels never-ending.

“It feels like yesterday we said goodbye and yet it somehow has also been the longest year without him. I can’t help but find gratitude in all the time we had because we did all of life as a family unit,” she wrote.

As she goes on to note, many of the photos that accompany the message finds Keith holding onto his four grandchildren tightly. Krystal also showcases a slew of memories between her father and her siblings, Shelley, and Stelen, like attending the super bowl, watching sunsets, cheering him on at baseball games, and dancing together at her wedding.

“It’s hard to find a candid picture where he doesn’t have one of our babies in his arms. He was their favorite, and they were his,” she continued. “Our littles miss their buddy big time but we all know we will see him again someday. Until then, he will watch over us and walk beside us.”

Krystal wrapped up the post on an uplifting note, while sending a reminder to continue to live each day to the fullest.

“Every sunset (and he LOOOOVED his sunsets) is a reminder that he wants us to live our best life and do good in the world. So that’s exactly is what we will do. ❤️

Krystal has followed in her father’s footsteps by pursuing her passion for music. While she hasn’t released her own music since 2018, she has delivered a few one-off performances including at the tribute concert in Nashville and more recently, at the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, TX where she delivered the National Anthem ahead of the game.

Throughout his career, he earned an impressive 32 No.1 singles, sold a whopping 40 million albums and has garnered more than 10 billion streams and 100 million terrestrial radio spins to date.

On top of earning a chart-topping hit every year for 20 consecutive years, he was recognized for his success through a slew of accolades. Keith is a recipient of the National Medal of Arts, he’s been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame (following his induction into the all-genre Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2015), and has been honored with the Academy of Country Music’s esteemed Merle Haggard Spirit Award.

The Oklahoma native also received the BMI Icon Award as well as the BMI Country Songwriter of the Year award three times, and his hit single “As Good As I Once Was” was awarded BMI’s Country Song of the Year in 2006.

As Krystal stated, it’s hard to believe it’s been a full year since losing such an icon, but it’s safe to say that he will continue to be remembered by his family as well as through the careers of today’s generation of artists and beyond.
