The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum has announced that the next installment of American Currents: State of the Music, which aims to honor the latest chapter of country music and the artists that made a prominent impact, will open on Wednesday, March 5.
Each year, members of the museum’s curators and editorial staff come together to take a comprehensive look at the genre as a whole over the past year and then decide which notable events and milestone achievements should be highlighted in the annual exhibit.
“The museum’s annual American Currents exhibition examines a wide variety of music and events that took place the prior year,” said Kyle Young, chief executive officer of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. “Last year, we witnessed innovative collaborations, well-deserved honors and the continued expansion of country and roots-inspired music’s reach to broader audiences. American Currents allows us to highlight these significant moments within the context of music history.”

The latest installment of American Currents is set to feature various artists, musicians and songwriters who played a significant role in country music in 2024. Artists with artifacts this year include Jessi Alexander, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, HARDY, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Amythyst Kiah, Carin León, Shelby Lynne, Megan Moroney, Orville Peck, Post Malone, The Red Clay Strays, Shaboozey, Chris Stapleton, Billy Strings, Taylor Swift, Turnpike Troubadours, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Morgan Wallen and Lainey Wilson.
A section within the exhibit titled “Unbroken Circle” will also commemorate musical ties that have been made between emerging acts and well-established artists who have influenced them or share their musical perspective in some way. Featured artifact pairings include Wyatt Ellis and Sierra Hull, Jamey Johnson and Ella Langley, Zach Top and KeithWhitley and Kaitlin Butts and Miranda Lambert.

Among the mix of unique artifacts on display are outfits that represent significant moments in the artist’s journey, such as the dress Langley wore in the music video for her breakout hit, “You Look Like You Love Me,” Moroney’s stunning baby blue dress from her “Am I Okay?” music video or the custom-designed Wear Pageant lamé vest and matching bell bottoms that Wilson was seen wearing in the social media clip promoting her Thanksgiving halftime performance with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. A variety of guitars, awards and props are also featured.
Additionally, American Currents will spotlight pivotal moments in country music from 2024, including Beyoncé’s release of Cowboy Carter, as well as the year’s top-charting albums, hit singles, and highest-grossing tours. The exhibit will present a video compilation of standout performances and events from the past year, featuring several of the artists previously mentioned along with Zach Bryan, Dasha, Sierra Ferrell, Rosie Flores, Wyatt Flores, Sturgill Simpson, and Country Music Hall of Fame members Joe Bonsall, Toby Keith, and Kris Kristofferson. An interactive touchscreen will also showcase key moments from major awards shows.
American Currents: State of the Music opens March 5 and runs through January 2026 in the museum’s ACM Gallery and will be included in museum admission.
