Will Lainey Wilson and her boyfriend Devlin “Duck” Hodges be taking their relationship to the next level in 2025? The country star hinted that a proposal might be on the horizon – even if she has to be the one to pop the question.
Before ringing in the new year, Wilson caught up with Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie XO for CMT. During their conversation the pair of powerhouse females ended up reflecting on the past year and sharing aspirations for the months ahead.
Bunnie suggested they do a bit of manifesting for 2025 and revealed that she hopes to see an engagement between Wilson and Hodge.
“No pressure, brother! No pressure,” Wilson jokingly responded, before heavily hinting that she is ready for the moment to come. “I might have to propose to him. We waiting!”
Bunnie then assured her, “No, Duck’s gonna do it. I could feel it,” which put a big smile on Wilson’s face as she replied, “I like that.”
Finding Love In The Midst Of Major Life Changes
The couple’s love began to blossom after meeting through mutual friends in Nashville. In 2023, they made their red carpet debut at the ACM Awards, letting the world know that Lainey Wilson is officially off the market.
At the start of their relationship, Hodges, who now works in real estate, was a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the “4x4xU” singer was just starting to see her career take off. They were both experiencing major life shifts, but still found a way to come together and make each other even stronger.
“We met at a time where he was still playing with them, but then it all changed,” Wilson recalled in a previous interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1. “So it was weird. It was like his life was changing as my life was changing and we were going different directions….”
The radio host pointed out that this must have been “a great test” for the couple’s relationship.
“Yeah, it was wild,” Wilson replied. “You would think that somebody couldn’t handle that.”
Wilson Highlights Hodges’ Incredible Support
The Louisiana native admitted that trying to balance a love life with her fast-paced lifestyle has had its challenges, but somehow feels “easy” at the same time. She also credited Hodges’ unwavering support throughout her “Whirlwind” of a career for playing a big role in their ability to maintain a happy and healthy relationship.
“I finally found a guy that gives me a run for my money,” she explained. “And he’s my biggest cheerleader. He’s just a good person. And he knows how important chasing down a dream is because even when he was a little boy, football was his life.”
“I mean, it’s not normal,” she added. “We don’t get to see each other as often as some couples do, but we also know that have is very special.”
Staying Grounded
Throughout the past year, Wilson experienced one milestone after the other from making her Grand Ole Opry debut to earning a GRAMMY and being nominated once again for the 2025 ceremony, making her hosting debut on the CMA Awards and more. One of the many reasons why fans love the songstress so much is her ability to stay humble through all the success.
She told PEOPLE that she stays grounded by “Making sure that I feel like Lainey: the sister, the friend, daughter, aunt and dog mom and all of those things…As long as I can do that, I can be the best version of the artist that I try to be.”
Following her unforgettable Thanksgiving Day halftime show for the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the New York Giants, Lainey Wilson was able to enjoy a bit of downtime and reset.
She will kickstart her next run in March with her Whirlwind European Tour which includes stops in Switzerland, Germany, and more.
