Nate Smith Opens Up About the Pressures of Being a New Artist: “I Am Exhausted Trying to Be Cool”

Nate Smith has been making a big name for himself in country music. He won the ACM Award for New Male Artist of the Year, and he’s had back-to-back #1 hits, but he recently opened up about how having chart-toppers isn’t enough anymore.

He shared on Instagram, “I don’t think people realize the amount of pressure we artists face. Why isn’t my reel viral? Why didn’t my last release get 7.5 million streams like my first release?”

Smith, whose success on TikTok helped land him a record deal with Sony Records, shares that “it’s a constant grind of feeding the machine and a roller coaster of emotions.”

He added, “It should be about the music and only the music but there is so much that goes on behind the scenes and I am absolutely exhausted trying to be cool.”

Fellow country singers took to the comments to share their support. Bailey Zimmerman wrote, “Nate you’re the coolest… you ain’t gotta try brother… it comes natural!!! Life is all about waking up happy and doing what you love!!! Keep making the music that you do KEEP GOING DAWG🤟❤️”  Breland shared, “Artists shouldn’t have to learn to beat an algorithm. The whole system needs a reboot” and Carly Pearce commented, “Say it louder for the people in the back! 🔥”

Nate has a new album coming out Oct. 4th so give it some love!
