David Bowie Now Has a Number One Country Music Hit

Chris Young’s song, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” just reached #1 on the Country Airplay chart. You might recognize it because it features a David Bowie guitar riff from the song “Rebel Rebel.”
This marks a unique achievement for Bowie, as he now has a #1 song on the country charts, eight years after his passing.
This was made possible when Warner Chappell Music purchased Bowie’s catalog in 2022, allowing them to use Bowie’s songs in a variety of ways.
Chris explained, “There are a lot of songs where people use something as a sample or have exactly the same melody. This is different. This is creating something new, with a nod to something that pre-existed. Just to have a song that has David Bowie listed as a songwriter is amazing.”
