The show itself was different this year due to COVID-19 precautions. Some fans thought it lacked energy while others loved the focus on the music.

How did Thomas Rhett and Carrie Underwood react off stage?
Thomas Rhett was on the Today show this morning where he talked about sharing the award with Carrie saying, “It’s just amazing that that even happened…It was the most surreal moment of my life.”

Carrie Underwood said in her acceptance speech, “2020 Man” and backstage she said it was an honor not only to win but also to have the chance to honor her heroes.
She also told media after the show that she left out three important people in her acceptance speech.
First, I wanna say that I’m a dummy for not mentioning my husband or children in my acceptance speech. You would think after this many years and seeing other people do speeches and giving some of my own, I would think of people that are important to me. So, I’m sorry but I do love my children and my husband.
