Cody Johnson recently shared the story of one of his most unique tattoos, which he had placed in an area most tattoo artists rarely touch—the bottom of his foot. During a video tour of his tattoos, Cody revealed that he asked a tattoo artist to ink a simple line on the sole of his foot.
While it may not sound like much, the meaning behind it is what makes it special. The tattoo is a nod to the Waylon Jennings song “I’ve Always Been Crazy,” which includes the lyric, “I’ve always been different with one foot over the line.” Cody said he wanted to honor that lyric, which resonates deeply with him. While the bottom of the foot isn’t the most common spot for tattoos, it’s clear Cody’s ink is all about personal meaning.
The video tour also showcased Cody’s other tattoos, which include pieces on his chest, back, arms, and hands. But it’s safe to say the line on the bottom of his foot might be the most unique of them all. What’s next for Cody’s ink collection? Only time—and perhaps another classic country lyric—will tell.
