Country star Cody Johnson had a powerful message for fans at a recent show, encouraging them to stay unified as the presidential election approaches.
He was at a recent show and asked the crowd, “How many of y’all watch the news?” But before they had a chance to answer, he emphatically said, “Stop watching the news!”
He continued, “Last time we had a presidential election in this country, they tried to divide us on race… on religion… on gender… and they even tried to divide us on vaccines and masks.”
“The point of unity is being together no matter what you believe,” he said, looking out at a diverse audience. Cody reminded fans that while it’s okay to disagree, it’s crucial to respect one another—a right hard-won by American soldiers who fought to preserve freedom.
Cody summed it up with a reminder that, “There are three things we can agree on: red, white, and blue.”
