Chesapeake Public Schools Announce Schedule Changes Due to Luke Bryan Concert Traffic

Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS) has announced schedule changes for several schools on Friday, Sept. 20, due to anticipated traffic concerns surrounding the Luke Bryan concert at Heritage Park off South Battlefield Boulevard.

  • Southeastern Elementary School and Hickory Elementary School will operate on an early release schedule, with students and staff being dismissed at 1 p.m. School breakfast and lunch will still be served, and fifth-grade students will still attend the Oceana Air Show.

  • Hickory High School and Hickory Middle School will switch to synchronous virtual learning. Students will log into their computers for class at home. All afterschool activities for both schools have been canceled.

CPS will share detailed information with families about the virtual learning schedule for Sept. 20 via email and Canvas.
