Kelsea Ballerini Shares Her Dog Dibs Has “Inoperable Heart Cancer”

Country star Kelsea Ballerini is facing heartbreaking news as her beloved dog, Dibs, has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Ballerini adopted Dibs in 2015, the same year she released her hit single “Dibs”, which inspired his name. Since then, Dibs has been by her side through the ups and downs of her career, becoming a cherished part of her life and often making appearances on her social media.

The singer revealed the news in her Instagram stories in August saying, “My sweet dibs needs big prayers and healing energy sent his way. Send our boy some love.”

She updated her fans a few days later saying, “We have discovered that dibby has inoperable cancer in his heart. He’s not in pain, and luckily it hasn’t spread further.”

Fans rallied behind Kelsea, sending their love and support and asking for ways that they could help.  A fan account, @KelseaCentral, set up a fundraiser in honor of Dibs with proceeds benefiting Best Friends Aimal Society.

“We have received SO many messages asking how you can help Kelsea and Dibs through this very difficult time.” the account shared. “For Kelsea’s birthday this year, we created the #DonateForDibs fundraiser to raise money for @Bestfriendsanimalsociety! Best Friends is working hard to end the killing of dogs and cats in America’s shelters in 2025, and your support of Kelsea and Dibs will make that possible. We are also working with them to get Dibs his very own brick at their Sanctuary in Angel’s Rest”

Kelsea shared the fundraiser to her story adding, “i really don’t have the words on how thoughtful and deeply special this is to me and dibby boy. thank you for letting his lil legacy continue to be about bringing joy and happiness and healing.”

She also shared an update on Dib’s health revealing he has his last round of his first big treatment and he’s “hanging in there like the goodest boy.”
