Monday night, the biggest names in country music gathered in Nashville, Tennessee, to celebrate the life and legacy of Toby Keith with the American Icon: Toby Keith tribute concert. Lainey Wilson, Jamey Johnson, Eric Church, and more took the stage to honor the Big Dog Daddy.

Tyler Hubbard performed Toby’s 2011 hit “Red Solo Cup” and encouraged the audience to sing along. However, about halfway through, he completely blanked on the lyrics. Perhaps caught up in the moment, he stopped the song and re-started the verse with the correct lyrics. It was clear he knew the words; he just got lost and tripped up. Even Tyler admitted it needed to be right, saying, “We can’t do Toby like this.”

Fortunately, Toby probably wouldn’t have minded. He never took that song seriously and once called it “the stupidest song I ever heard.” Despite the hiccup, the tribute concert was a heartfelt celebration of Toby Keith’s enduring impact on country music.
