The opening of the Rivers Casino in Portsmouth has been delayed by a week.

Instead of the previously announced opening on Sunday, January 15, it has now been postponed to Monday, January 23, at 10 a.m. Rivers Casino Portsmouth officials say the delay will give them additional time to test and verify new gaming equipment.

Rivers Casino Portsmouth will be the first free-standing casino in the state of Virginia.
