Blake Shelton Recalls the Time Cher Yelled At Him: “I Was Afraid To Even Say One Other Thing”

Blake Shelton and Cher met on “The Voice” in 2013 when she was the mentor for his team.  She later called him “funny” and “easy”.  But it turns out, they didn’t start off on the best terms.

During rehearsals one of the contestants was too timid with the microphone, so Blake gave him a very bold suggestion.

Blake told CMT, “I go, ‘Man, what are you doing with the microphone?  Grab that microphone.  Make that microphone your [B-word].’  About the time I said that, Cher goes, ‘What the [eff] did you just say?’  She goes, ‘Do you have any idea what I stand for?'”

The country singer says he was speechless. “I go … ‘I don’t know.’ I was afraid to even say one other thing.”

Luckily, Paul Mirkovich, the band director for ‘The Voice’ joked, “I don’t think it’s microphone rights, I’ll tell you that.”

That broke the ice and Blake said, “We became pretty close over the next couple of day. I told her that my dad had just passed away, and he was her biggest fan. She was by a mile his favorite artist of all time.”

Six months later Blake Cher released her new album and dedicated it to Blake’s Dad!

“I completely did not expect that. I hadn’t even spoken to her since that moment, and she dedicated her entire album to Dad. It was pretty amazing,” he told CMT.
