Sara Evans’ estranged husband, Jay Barker, was arrested early Saturday morning, after allegedly trying to ram his car into a car that she was riding in.

According to an affidavit obtained by WIAT, Barker, was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly tried to hit the car Evans was riding in with his car. The alleged incident took place at 1:30 a.m on Saturday after the singer left a party at a neighbor’s home in the passenger seat of her friend’s car. Evans allegedly saw Barker “backing up his vehicle at a high rate of speed attempting to hit them but missed.”

Barker was arrested and taken to the Davidson County Jail, where he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He later released a statement asking for privacy.

The couple married in 2008 but according to the avadavat, they are separated.

Barker’s court date is set for March.
