Dolly Parton seemingly joined TikTok on Sunday and told fans in her first video, “Why hello, I guess I’m on TikTok! I just dropped in to say that it will be okay.”
“Dolly” continued by singing a message to fans, “If I can do it, so can you … I believe in you.”
Fans LOVED it and the account had over 730,000 followers and one million likes in a day.
Well, it turns out it was a FAKE!
Her rep told TODAY that the impersonator lifted a previous video and “doctored it,” imploring fans to “take a closer look” at what had been posted. A TikTok spokesperson also confirmed the video was removed for violating the platform’s community guidelines around impersonation.
However, since nothing fully goes away on the internet, a Twitter user shared the fake version and you can see why everyone was fooled (including us!)
This Dolly Parton Fake TikTok even fooled me yesterday along with hundreds of thousands of users who followed her. This technology is scary! This is not dolly! TikTok banned the impersonator. pic.twitter.com/zzhVbKcu4G

Well, if we don’t have Dolly on TikTok we still have her Instagram account. It’s real and it’s spectacular.
