There are a few things in life that really impress me. For example, those guys who have a YouTube video of them putting together a Rubix cube in a matter of seconds. I saw one the other day, a guy was juggling and solving the Rubix cube, all at the same time. I couldn’t believe it. That’s some real talent.
Then, there’s this. I’ve never been a puzzle guy. I remember how discouraged I was when I was a young man at pre-school and was gifted a puzzle. I really wanted the gun that shot the rubber darts. I may have even cried I was so disappointed. Hey, I was 4!
I live in a household of women that like to do crafts, paint, and put things together. When I saw my wife buying Fiona, a 1,000 piece puzzle, I thought to myself, “That’ll never get solved!” I shouldn’t have underestimated the girls.
As soon as we got home, she got to work. Hours passed. I remember being agitated because the kitchen light was left on and I was trying to watch a movie. She must have started around 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon. More hours passed and the light from the kitchen felt like it was giving me a sunburn. Then, the oldest gets home from work. She sits down and starts to work the puzzle. Before you know it, the 1,000 piece puzzle is solved! I couldn’t believe it. I stood there admiring their work before asking, “What do you do with it now?” To which they replied, “Tear it apart and put it back in the box.” I couldn’t believe it!
Take a look. Have you ever solved a 1,000 piece puzzle in half a day?
