I know it’s beach vacation season, but over the weekend, I streamed TWO cheesy Christmas movies because sometimes when it’s so hot outside, I take comfort in turning my a/c down to “Arctic”, putting on my favorite flannel jammies with snowflake print, making a cup of peppermint hot cocoa, and watching people fall in love in a Christmas tree lot. Housework doesn’t get done, but it sure does help me unwind! And cool off!

I know I can’t be the only one who will pull out a Christmas movie during the dog days of summer! So why are these movies so addicting? Why don’t cheesy Valentine’s movies have the same effect? Why doesn’t a love story set around the 4th of July cut it? I mean, fireworks? Right? Eh, it’s gotta be our love for Christmas and what it means to us. All the pretty decorations. Snow and Santa. Christmas miracles. Add a Prince Charming and it has all the makings of the perfect fairy tale. No matter the reason, the fact is, the makers of these movies have GOT us. And it shows.

If you love cheesy Christmas movies all year long, Netflix and Amazon Prime have been obliging us with some hidden jewels like “A Husband for Christmas” with Vivica A. Fox and “A Christmas Mystery” with nobody I ever heard of except John Ratzenberger, aka Cliff from “Cheers.” (No, he’s not the love interest!) Those are the two I caught this past weekend. But if you need more, Hallmark is still feeding our cheesy Christmas movie obsession with Christmas in July and here’s a nice little lineup for ya!
