Texas musician Cody Johnson sold out the Nora on Saturday night!
Cody Johnson rolled into Hampton Roads on Saturday night and sold out the world famous Norva in beautiful downtown Norfolk. For a guy who is known as the biggest country music star that you’ve never heard of, you could have fooled with me with all the people singing Cody Johnson songs at the top of their lungs!
I had an opportunity to talk with Cody Johnson before the show and we talked a lot about Texas red dirt country music. Cody was talking about how some of the Texas legends, Kevin Fowler, Josh Abbot Band, Casey Donahew, and others have given him great advice, in terms of not making the same mistakes they made whenever they were really beginning to heat up.
Cody Johnson has the country music scene by the horns and he’s not planning on letting go anytime soon. I was familiar with Cody Johnson having moved here from Texas, but apparently, Hampton Roads have also heard of this guy a time or two. The line wrapped around the corner on Saturday night as we were working the crowd getting folks signed up to win an autographed Cody Johnson guitar. By the way, Nancy Diggs is our grand prize winner! I couldn’t believe the amount of Texans I met waiting in line to see Cody Johnson. I met folks from Corpus, San Antonio, Nacogdoches, Dallas, Houston, Tyler Longview, and more.
If you guys missed Cody Johnson on Saturday night, you missed a good one. Next time Cody Johnson rolls through town you’ll probably have to catch him at the Veteran United Home Loans Amphitheater.
Catch Cody Johnson’s latest single, “On My Way To You” plays more often at 97-3 The Eagle!
